Terms of use · 26 July 2026
Use Consensus fairly.
These terms form the agreement between you and Consensus. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them.
The service
Consensus lets users create prediction markets and take positions using closed-loop Credits. It is a social forecasting product. It offers no cash prizes, investments, deposits, withdrawals or real-money trading, and is not a source of financial advice.
You must be at least 18, have legal capacity to agree to these terms and use Consensus only where lawful. You are responsible for your account and for information submitted through it.
Credits
- Credits are a limited permission to use features in Consensus. They are not legal tender, deposits or stored value and are not redeemable for money.
- Credits can be bought, granted, staked, won, refunded in Credits or pledged toward an operator-funded charity donation.
- Credits cannot be sold, transferred, withdrawn or exchanged for cash, and have no value outside Consensus.
- Purchase prices and quantities are shown before checkout. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
If you ask us to supply purchased Credits immediately, you acknowledge that any statutory cancellation right for that digital supply may end once supply is complete. If Credits are not delivered or were bought in error, contact legal@consensus.solar promptly.
Market rules
A market's published question, outcomes, closing time and resolution criteria govern it. The creator declares an outcome after closing. Eligible participants may contest during the displayed 24-hour window. A strict majority contest invalidates the market and returns stakes in Credits; otherwise settlement follows the declaration. A market may also be invalidated where it cannot fairly be resolved.
Prices express participant activity, not truth or a guarantee. Consensus may correct clear technical or accounting errors, but will not change a result merely because it is unpopular.
Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give Consensus a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, format, display and distribute it only as needed to operate, secure, improve and promote the service. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where it was shared by others or must be retained for legal, safety or market-integrity reasons.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit the content and that it is accurate where presented as fact. Do not submit personal, confidential or copyrighted material without permission.
Acceptable use
You must not use Consensus to:
- break the law; threaten, harass, defame or exploit anyone; or post illegal, hateful, sexually exploitative or dangerously misleading content;
- infringe privacy, copyright, trade marks or other rights;
- manipulate markets, votes, accounts or Credits; misrepresent evidence; collude; automate access; scrape; reverse engineer; or bypass security or rate limits;
- introduce malware, overload the service, impersonate another person or use Consensus for unauthorised commercial activity.
Report illegal, unsafe or rights-infringing content to legal@consensus.solar with the URL and enough detail for us to assess it.
Our rights & IP
Consensus and its licensors own the service, software, interface, visual system, original copy, databases and branding, including the Consensus name and mark. Copyright and all other intellectual-property rights are reserved. These terms grant only a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service; no ownership passes to you.
You may share ordinary public links and screenshots for personal, editorial or nominative use. You may not copy, resell, white-label, frame or commercially exploit a substantial part of Consensus, or imply our endorsement, without written permission. Third-party names and marks remain their owners' property.
Moderation
We may investigate, restrict, remove or preserve content; limit features; correct abusive Credit activity; or suspend or close accounts where reasonably necessary for safety, legality, these terms or service integrity. We will act proportionately and provide notice and a way to challenge a decision where appropriate.
Availability
We aim to keep Consensus accurate and available, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may change or discontinue features. If a material change adversely affects purchased Credits, we will take reasonable steps to preserve access or provide an appropriate remedy.
Responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights. We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach or failure to use reasonable care, but not for unforeseeable loss, business loss, or harm caused by user content or conduct outside our reasonable control.
Ending use
You may stop using Consensus at any time and ask us to close your account. Account closure does not convert Credits into cash and may not erase records we must retain for completed markets, payments, safety or law. Provisions about ownership, licences already relied on, liability and disputes survive where needed.
Law & updates
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections of your home country and may bring proceedings in the courts available to you under applicable law.
We may update these terms for legal, safety or product changes. We will give reasonable notice of material changes; continued use after they take effect means you accept the revised terms. Contact legal@consensus.solar with questions or complaints.
